—Jackson Hole’s Weekly Summer Bouldering Series Returns for Its 10th Year—
Registration is now open for the 10th Annual Town Pump, Jackson Hole’s beloved weekly summer bouldering series. Running every Tuesday evening from 6:00–8:00 p.m., May 27 through August 26, at the Teton Boulder Park, this year’s milestone edition promises to be the most inclusive and community-driven yet.
Organized by the Teton Climbers’ Coalition and presented by Teton Mountaineering, Arc’Teryx and Four Pines Physical Therapy, the Town Pump has, over its ten-year history, grown into a vibrant celebration of Jackson Hole’s climbing culture, offering a free-spirited, low-pressure space for climbers to connect, challenge themselves, and build community.
The Town Pump was created in 2015 after the Enclosure, Jackson’s only climbing gym at the time, closed its doors. With the Enclosure’s demise, local climbers lost more than just a training facility—they lost a communal space. Begun to reignite the community spirit that had thrived at the gym, The Town Pump has continued to transform Tuesday evenings into a fun, welcoming gathering of friends, families, and climbers of all abilities ever since.
The Pump is held at the iconic Teton Boulder Park, which was built in 2011 through a grassroots partnership between the local climbing community and the Town of Jackson. As always, each Pump will feature two hours of climbing, with climbers choosing which problems to attempt and scoring their top five sends. Points accumulate weekly, with a grand prize awarded at the final Pump on August 26.
For the first time, this summer’s Pump will feature a dedicated team of volunteers who are stepping up to make the experience more welcoming than ever.
From Idaho, Jerod Pfeffer and Rheya Irwin are coordinating weekly carpools to bring over climbers from the other side of the Tetons, including The Teton Rock Gym’s competitive youth climbing team. Joined by a team of volunteers including Hanna Merzbach, Anthony Gulla, and Erik Dahl, ambassadors will be on hand to assist newcomers and create a friendly, accessible atmosphere for all climbers, whether they’re first-timers or seasoned boulderers. Local teenagers Zoe Salazar and River Ryan, members of the Jackson Hole High School mountaineering club, are rallying Teton County youth. Longtime route setter and former TCC board member Chris Owen returns to lead problem setting and run the events.
Numerous local and national businesses are supporting this year’s Pump as well. JH Contracting, The American Alpine Club’s Grand Teton Climbers Ranch, Grand Teton Floor and Window Coverings, Spackman and Associates, JTec, Snake River Brewing, Hotel Terra, Advanced Dermatology and Hole Ortho are all 2025 sponsors. Prizes are being contributed by Beal Ropes, La Sportiva, Petzl, Snake River Roasting, and Julbo, among others.
Whether you’re a local climber looking for community or visiting Jackson Hole for the first time, The Town Pump is a celebration of Teton climbing’s past, present, and future. Teams and individuals are welcome, and the event is open to climbers of all levels. Individual entry is $50 for the full series of all 14 events or $150 for teams. Weekly drop-ins are available for $10 per event. Registration is now open at TetonClimbers.com.
