Three AlpinFilm Awards celebrated the incredible talent behind these unforgettable stories.

People’s Choice Award: “Yamnuska: The Ragged Edge”

Voted on by our audience, the People’s Choice Award went to “Yamnuska: The Ragged Edge”, a gripping exploration of the Canadian Rockies and the deep-rooted climbing culture surrounding these iconic peaks. Through stunning cinematography and rich storytelling, the film delves into the ethics of climbing, the challenges of first ascents, and the community forged in the mountains. It struck a chord with viewers, making it a well-deserved winner. Congratulations to the filmmakers for crafting such a compelling and inspiring piece!

Jury’s Choice Award: “109 Below”

The Jury’s Choice Award was presented to “109 Below”, a powerful and emotionally resonant film that brings to life the harsh realities of mountain rescue. With its dynamic storytelling, breathtaking cinematography, and deep emotional impact, this film left a lasting impression on the jury. “109 Below” is a testament to the resilience, teamwork, and adaptability required to confront nature’s most unforgiving conditions, making it one of the most gripping films of the year.

Grand Prize: “To the Hills and Back”

The festival’s highest honor, the Grand Prize, was awarded to “To the Hills and Back”, a film that stood out for its exceptional storytelling, emotional depth, and relevance to the Jackson Hole community. Tackling themes of avalanche awareness, loss, and the unbreakable bonds of mountain culture, this film resonated deeply with audiences. The filmmakers masterfully balanced humor, heartbreak, and hope, crafting an unforgettable experience. We are honored to recognize “To the Hills and Back” as this year’s Grand Prize winner.
