If you've ever climbed at Rock Springs Buttress, y If you've ever climbed at Rock Springs Buttress, you know the crux can often be keeping your gear safe from marmots at the base of the routes.

No more.

Last weekend, we placed "marmot posts" at the base of Rock Springs Buttress to keep salty backpacks, shoes and other assorted items safe from the little buggers.

There are currently three in place: one near the start of Boxcar Arete, one near the base of Exum Arete, and one near the start of Swordfish Lipstick.

Please hang your packs and gear to minimize wildlife encounters!
The 10th Annual Town Pump is in full swing—and l The 10th Annual Town Pump is in full swing—and local high school student and JHHS Mountaineering Club member River Ryan has been capturing the proceedings this summer with his camera.

River is one of our team of volunteers helping make this summer's Pump a rockin' good time.

DJ Cheyenne will be spinning on July 29 and August 12. Closing act for the Grand Finale TBD!
Thanks to help from the @asca_bolt_replacement, wh Thanks to help from the @asca_bolt_replacement, who provided all the necessary equipment, and @jennylakerangers, who cleared the way for the use of power drills, Garrick Hart, Tom Hargis, Justin Tatosian, Hans Johnstone, Rob Werner and Jenny Lake Ranger Cody Evans replaced the suspect bolts at Lower Blacktail Butte on Sunday.

According to Garrick, "We were able to get the 3 lead bolts that [Jenny Lake Ranger] Zack [Little] found loose totally out, and reused the hole for new glue ins. We also shored up all 3 of the access anchors" for the routes.

Routes addressed were as follows:

- Inconceivable (5.11a), 4th bolt replaced.
- Do The Right Thing (5.11b/c), 5th and 6th bolts replaced.
- all three toprop access anchors were also replaced.

Importantly, the Rangers note that, "A detailed inspection of the remaining bolts at the lower crag was conducted and they were all found to have been placed appropriately."

Check out the @jennylakerangers IG post for all the details—and please wait until Tuesday for the epoxy to cure before climbing.

If you find a suspect piece of hardware, please report it to us directly using the Bad Bolt form on our website.
Effective immediately, the Sisu Wall in Wilson Can Effective immediately, the Sisu Wall in Wilson Canyon is closed to climbing from May 1 to August 30 to protect an active peregrine falcon nest identified near the wall.

While the nest isn’t visible from the established routes, it’s close enough that climbing could disturb the birds during their critical nesting season.

This decision comes from the U.S. Forest Service, with support from their wildlife biologist and local climbing advocates. Signage will be posted at the base of the wall, and we ask our community to respect the closure and help spread the word.

For questions or to report noncompliance, contact info@tetonclimbers.com. Thanks for being good stewards.
The Teton Climbers’ Coalition and Jenny Lake Ran The Teton Climbers’ Coalition and Jenny Lake Rangers are responding to reports of potentially unsafe glue-in bolts at Lower Blacktail Butte in Grand Teton National Park.

TCC Stewardship Team leader Garrick Hart will lead an inititiative to replace the bolts, which were intalled decades ago, on Sunday, July 20.

On Monday, July 7, Jenny Lake Climbing Rangers discovered bolts on three routes that were visibly loose, wiggling by hand, and showing signs of epoxy degradation and contacted us to help replace them.

The bolts were found on the following routes:

Inconceivable (5.11a): 4th bolt
Do the Right Thing (5.11c/d): 5th and 6th bolts
Time Flies When You’re Alive / Higher Education: Top-access bolts

The faulty bolts are Petzl glue-ins, which require a notched and countersunk rock placement to remain secure. Without this, the bolts can work loose due to cantilevering forces. In contrast, most bolts at Lower Blacktail appear to be Fixe glue-ins that were properly installed and remain secure.

Given that the suspect bolts are found adjacent to cruxes, it’s possible that the loosening is the result of multiple falls over multiple years.

TCC's Climbing Area Modernization Project has been replacing aging hardware across Teton climbing areas. Rebolting efforts at Upper Blacktail Butte the last two years replaced outdated hardware with Wave Bolts, which are currently performing as expected.

Climbers can document and report suspect hardware using the TCC’s Bad Bolt Form, which many be found on our website.
