Presented by Teton Mountaineering, The Teton Climbers’ Coalition’s much-anticipated 2024 AlpinFilm Festival is set to captivate audiences with a meticulously curated selection of mountain films January 19-20, 2024, at the Center for the Arts, Jackson Hole’s premier performing arts center.
The two-night festival, which will also be livestreamed, will culminate with three prestigious awards honoring exceptional mountain films that embody the spirit and legacy of mountaineering in the Tetons.
“From homegrown adventures to international expeditions, the Tetons have inspired climbers and ski mountaineers to push physical, mental and spiritual boundaries for more than a century,” said Sheila Walsh, chair of the non-profit climbing organization.
In keeping with that spirit, the 2024 festival features three significant awards, celebrating the mountains’ power to inspire adventures while embracing Jackson Hole’s identity as the heart of American mountaineering.
The People’s Choice Award will empower the audience to vote for their favorite film from the Festival. The vote will incorporate a weighted system that recognizes deeper engagement over both festival nights.
The Jury’s Choice Award will recognize storytelling, technical proficiency, and artistic merit. Local filmmakers will evaluate films based on narrative, cinematography, editing, direction, impact, and technical excellence.
The Grand Prize will honor films that resonate with Teton mountaineering’s legacy. A five-person jury will assess films’ authenticity, impact, and inspiration, and decide the award based on a film’s ability to move audiences to push their own physical, mental, and spiritual limits.
“These awards pay homage to the enduring spirit and heritage of mountaineering in the Tetons,” said Christian Beckwith, Executive Director of the Teton Climbers’ Coalition.
The awards will be announced at the final night of the festival at the Center for the Arts on January 20, 2024, commemorating outstanding contributions to mountain cinema.
All proceeds from the event underwrite the work of The Teton Climbers’ Coalition, a 501c3 non-profit organization that stewards, advocates and engages on behalf of the Teton climbing community.
Audiences can enjoy the entire weekend’s films either in-person or virtually. In-person ticket prices are $25 per night or $40 for the weekend. Virtual viewers may access the films for $20 per night or $30 for both nights.
