The Teton Climbers’ Coalition is now accepting nominations for the 2026 Local Hero Award, to be presented during AlpinFilm 2026, held January 16–17, 2026, at Jackson Hole’s Center for the Arts.
Presented by Teton Mountaineering, AlpinFilm is the TCC’s annual celebration of mountain storytelling. Rooted in Jackson Hole’s identity as the epicenter of American mountaineering, the two-day festival showcases climbing, skiing, and mountaineering films that capture the essence of the alpine experience—and the people who make that experience possible.
The Local Hero Award honors individuals whose work in stewardship, advocacy, or community engagement has made a transformative impact on Teton climbing. Building on past honorees such as Linda Merigliano, recognized for her leadership in sustainable climbing access and preservation, and Garrick Hart, whose coordination of the Jackson Hole High School Mountaineering Club has introduced hundreds of students to the pursuit, the award celebrates those who exemplify the spirit of the Tetons—quiet dedication, community-minded service, and a love for the mountains that inspires others.
“The Local Hero Award recognizes the people whose behind-the-scenes efforts sustain and enrich Jackson’s mountain culture,” said Christian Beckwith, Executive Director of Teton Climbers’ Coalition. “Their work ensures that the places and values we care about endure for generations to come.”
