The Teton Climbers’ Coalition (TCC) is proud to share highlights from a landmark year of programs, projects, and partnerships that strengthened the climbing community, improved safety, expanded access, and protected the region’s cherished climbing resources.
Over the past year, TCC has:
Advanced Safety and Skills
- Safe Climbing Initiative (SCI): Developed a comprehensive instructional series that offers Teton County climbers low-cost, expert instruction from Exum and Jackson Hole Mountain Guides.
Stewarded Climbing Areas
- Delta Lake Trail Project: Spearheaded a low-cost, rapid intervention project to rehabilitate one of Grand Teton National Park’s most popular destinations.
- Rock Springs Buttress Audit: Expanded the Climbing Area Modernization (CAM) Project to include a collaborative effort to assess and maintain one of the Tetons’ iconic climbing areas.
- Re-Roping Project: Introduced a recycling initiative that allows climbers to donate retired ropes to Indigenous-led community programs.
Expanded Access
- On Belay Community Access Program: Removes financial and expertise barriers to climbing at the Teton County/Jackson Recreation Center by underwriting gym entry and providing belay support for local nonprofit partner organizations.
- Community Climb Nights: Monthly meet-ups created welcoming spaces for diverse community groups to connect through climbing.
Empowered Community
- Women’s Grand Scholarship: Provided three area women with scholarships to climb the iconic Grand Teton.
- AlpinFilm: Hosted the TCC’s third annual festival, celebrating mountain culture and storytelling via the medium of film.
- Town Pump Bouldering Series: Marked the 10th anniversary of Jackson Hole’s beloved summer climbing series, bringing the community together at the Teton Boulder Park.
“This year reflects what’s possible when a community comes together to support climbing, stewardship, and access,” said Christian Beckwith, Executive Director of the Teton Climbers’ Coalition. “From safety education to trail projects and scholarships, we’re committed to ensuring climbing in the Tetons is welcoming, sustainable, and accessible to all.”
