One hundred years ago this August 27th, Eleanor Davis became the first known woman to summit the Grand Teton. Women have made amazing strides in climbing but still feel a need to get support, connect, and celebrate. That’s what the community of climbers shared when the Centennial year was kicked-off with a women’s panel at AlpinFilm in Jackson last January. Now, Teton Climbers Coalition, Women in the Tetons, Exum Guides, Jackson Hole Mountain Guides, the Jackson Hole Historical Society, and the American Alpine Club’s Grand Teton Climbers’ Ranch have formed an exciting partnership to host the Centennial. Listening to the community, the partners have offered a scholarship to an all female guided trip up the Grand and are hosting a week of events at the Grand Teton Climbers’ Ranch, culminating in a party on August 29th.
